As a human, leadership is one of the skills that should be mastered because, “each of us are leaders, and as leaders, we have to be responsible in our doings”.
A great leader comes with good piety, responsibility, bravery, honesty, and obedience. However, those values should be implemented as early as possible.
As a school that value leadership, An Nahl Leadership Training (ALT) holds an important role as a practice to implement students’ leadership skills.
This agenda was held on Thursday and Friday, 13th – 14th of September 2018.
By “Developing Leadership through Responsibility and Idea”, secondary students are required to be responsible and creative in all activities.
Students from grade 7 and 8 are put into groups to strengthen the bonding between them. The leaders of the group should be fully responsible with their team.
Starting in the morning, they had trekking around the school area. Along the way, they had to visit several posts with different tasks to finish. Each task has its own value, from logical thinking, teamwork, perseverance, persistence, effort, courage, discipline, and other qualities of leadership.
After the trekking, the agenda was continued with taking a shower, Dzuhur prayer, and having lunch together. All groups ate in a big tray together as a form of sunnah of eating.
The first day of ALT was closed with sharing session, where some students shared their trekking experience, and Ashar prayer.
The next day, we continued the activities with indoor material (in ISBI Auditorium) about Qiyadah and Jundiyah (leadership) and How to Prevent Bullying, presented by Mr Akbar, the Vice Principal of Students Affairs and Kak Danang from Komnas Perlindungan Anak Indonesia (KPAI) respectively.
In the evening, still in the same place, the best of the best (participants, groups, and leaders) were announced as an appreciation for their great contribution throughout the agenda.
The second day was closed by Muhasabah event as a reflection of their life in order to be a better person in the future.
Special thanks to all secondary teachers and OSIS team in organizing and running the event. InsyaAllah, this will be very beneficial for all students to increase their leadership skills to become the next leader in their generation.
